What We Believe
We believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God, breathed out by God Himself. We recognize our own sinfulness and need for a Savior in Jesus Christ (as our Pastor frequently says, “We are a bunch of messed-up people serving a perfect Savior”).
We take seriously Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:18-20 to make disciples of all nations, and we desire to be a community of believers who make disciples who make disciples.
We would love for you to join us on this journey!

Why we are on mission...
Jesus commanded us in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations, BAPTIZING them, and TEACHING them to observe everything Jesus commanded us to do. And Jesus, the one who has all authority and gave us this command, promised to be with us always. At Southport Baptist Church, we take the Great Commission seriously, and we have a 2050 Vision to baptize 1,000 people and plant or replant 5 churches by the year 2050. What will we do if we don’t reach this goal? Pastor Devon frequently reminds us that this is a mission that cannot fail! Every person we reach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and every person that we baptize is one more person who will be a part of the kingdom of God. Whether it is local missions like handing out water bottles and Gospel tracts during the Fourth of July parade in downtown Southport or international missions like packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes or going to Guatemala, here at Southport Baptist Church, we want to make a lasting impact for Jesus Christ.
